Our unique Learning and Skills unit offers a variety of programmes designed with young people in mind. We understand that for some young people secondary education can be a difficult time. All programmes are run by highly qualified and experienced members of staff in addition to session assistants and volunteers.
The First Steps Programme is specifically aimed at the growing number of non- school attendees who can attend on both Mondays and Tuesdays.
The programme works on building social and wider key skills with the addition of completing the accredited Youth Achievement Award at bronze, silver and gold levels. Much of the work will include practical and physical group work that will address behavioural or personal issues.
The Bright Young Things Programme which is aimed at students finding it difficult within a mainstream school who need a structured environment and delivery in order to study for and gain a variety of GCSE’s, BTEC’s and OCR Nationals. Subjects are GCSE English, Maths, Philosophy and Ethics and Art, BTEC Travel and Tourism, Applied Science, OCR National Certificate Level 2 in Media and National Certificate in Business Studies. In addition to this we are an approved examination centre, therefore can host exams on site.
The Youth Achievement Award is also aimed at our clients to help and support successful independent living. The award is based around:
• Work Skills
• Food Skills
• Home Skills
