Our Learning and Skills centre offers
the First Steps Programme, aimed at the growing number of non-school
attendees, The Bright Young Things Programme, aimed at those finding
it difficult in a mainstream school environment who need structured
support in order to gain certain GCSE qualifications and a Life
Skills Course designed for any of those attending who wish to
increase their experience and knowledge.
First Steps
First Steps is a programme aimed at those young people who are,
for whatever reason, unable to attend mainstream schooling. The
programme consists of four two hourly sessions running from Monday
through Thursday and includes academic, practical and physical
group work whilst addressing behavioural and personal issues.
The Bright Young Things
A programme designed specifically for young people in mainstream
school who need a structured environment and delivery in order
to study for and gain particular GCSE’s. Maths and English
are the primary subjects studied with science as a possible extra
option.
Vision-2-Learn
A new way of flexible learning online for ages 14 plus. We have
initiated this program as the innovative learning environment
is suitable for most learners at most levels. Vision-2-Learn enables
participants to gain nationally recognised awards up to and including
GCSE level.
Life Skills Course
This course comprises of six units:
• Home skills
• Good food skills
• Self care
• Interpersonal skills
• Work skills
• Community and leisure skills
Each topic contains three units accredited at level one. Non-school
attendees and residents alike are encouraged to progress through
the Life Skills units at their own pace and with the support of
tutors and experienced volunteers.
